Fostering provides a loving bridge from past hardships to forever homes. By opening your heart and home, you're not only giving a pet a chance at a better life, but you're also making space for another soul in need at the shelter or saving one from the streets.
Foster times vary on a case-by-case basis, but we need fosters for ANY amount of time. Dogs typically transport out quicker, but bigger dogs do take a little longer than others, as do behavioral dogs. Times do vary based on the animal.
No worries! As a PBAA foster, you have access to our PBAA foster chat. You can inform board members and fellow fosters of upcoming plans and we will ALWAYS work together to make sure that your dog/cat has a plan. We will never 'stick' you with a foster and tell you to figure it out!
No problem! Typically, before we pull a foster animal, we have some sort of back up plan. Although, we may need you to hold on to the dog or cat for a day or two while we figure out a concrete plan for him/her, we will make it a priority and will NEVER leave you hanging.
When you fill out the foster form, there is question asking any preferences you may have. We will find animals matching your preferences in danger of being euthanized or going to the shelter and send you a few to choose from! You let us know, based on personality and your family, which one you want!
NEVER! We, Permian Basin Animal Advocates, will cover 100% of your foster's needs. Food, kennels, litter, toys, collars, leashes, potty pads, scoops, medicine, training, and wetting are covered in full and will never ask that you pay for any part of it!
This is the fun part! Your duties as a foster are to love the animal as if it were your own. We love to utilize foster homes because our fosters get to know the animals' personalities and work on training to set them up for success in their forever homes! The ONLY requirement we have for our fosters is that you have reliable transportation to get your foster to and from the vet. We set up all appointments according to your schedule and work with you if you cannot get them to/from the vet. We just need enough notice to get a plan together.
We celebrate! This is what we like to call a "Foster Fail". All of our current fosters each have at least one! We are very understanding and know how much time and energy goes into each dog/cat in foster care. Our fosters will always get first choice at adoption.
That's easy! Shoot us an email at info@pbanimaladvocates.org and we will be happy to answer all of your questions!!
